So obviously I was a bit down today when I didn't hear from the kids, but shortly after my last post I wrote briefly with DJ so that kind of lifted my spirits. We discussed the bike I just bought and some plans for potential mountain biking trips in the future. I then posted a pic on Instagram from a recent trip to Cancun and was very pleasantly surprised when Riley liked it as well as 5 or 6 previous pictures. This was HUGE for me! She hasn't really be involved with me lately and it was great for me to know that she was able to see what I've been up to.
I wrote to her that she just made my day and gave me a big reason to smile.
She responded that she misses me and it was cool to see all the fun stuff I had been doing. This was the exact reason I made this Instagram account in the first place. I wanted to share my life with my children since all our other attempts had been blocked by my ex.
I have missed her so much and in many ways feel closer to her than the other 3, and I don't mean to take away from the feelings I have for the others..... I've just had a lot more personal time and interactions with her obviously based on her age. Anyway.... it was a great feeling to have even this small connection again and just to see the simple words that she misses me.
It even got a bit better (in a way) after this. she posted on Instagram, which is something I hadn't seen in a very long time. Her post was that she was a bit down and was pulling out her painting supplies in an attempt to cheer herself up. This is obviously a nice relaxing thing.... but to me its much more significant than that. Art is one of the connections that we had and hopefully will have again in the future. I teared up a bit when I realized that at her bad moments, she resorts to something that we had together. I hope she gets through her challenge and I hope the artistic venue helps with that. On a more personal note, I hope the art helps her remember the connection we use to have. I love and miss that young lady!
